Most Interactive Classes in Fall Quarter 2008

Talking in class used to get you in trouble. But online discussion in classes is a good thing.

Each quarter, at the end of week five, Online Learning collects statistics on the use of myCourses in all RIT classes—online, blended and on-campus. These statistics take into account the total number of postings in online discussions, comments left in the grade book, feedback left in the dropbox, news announcements, calendar items and chat rooms created in the course. This total number is averaged by the number of people in the class and a Heavy Hitters list is compiled.

For the 2008 fall quarter, James Jacobs Jr. and the students in his online course Elements of Service Management had the most interactive course for the quarter. Thomas Hanney had three courses in the top 50 and Linda Underhill, Kevin Bosner and Cathryn Leyland each had two courses in the top 50 Heavy Hitters list.
