Respondus is a quiz management system for Microsoft Windows/Vista which allows you to manage question and quiz libraries and then generate print quizzes for use in a face to face class or export those same quizzes for use online through myCourses.

When working with myCourses you will always want to use the Respondus Identity: Desire2Learn. Context-sensitive help is available throughout the Respondus program by pressing the F1 key, as well as through the Help menu.

Publisher Test Bank Network

Publisher test banks in Respondus format are available for many of the leading textbooks in higher education. Instructors who adopt a participating textbook can download the Respondus-formatted test bank right within the software. Respondus has provided a search form to see if your textbook is participating in the network.

Installing Respondus

Respondus Download and Instructions. You will be prompted for your RIT Computer Account.

Non-Windows Use

Respondus is available on the Microsoft Windows stations in Online Learning's Teaching and Learning Technology (TLT) Lab for faculty/staff who may not have a Windows based computer.

What is Respondus?

Respondus is a Windows application for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to myCourses. Online Learning has obtained a campus-wide license of the Respondus product to support RIT faculty. You may create your examinations and questions directly in the application, leverage your questions and exam collections or take advantage of quiz banks available from many textbook publishers.

What Are The Benefits?

  • Use the Exam Wizard to create an assessment in minutes.
  • Supports up to 15 question types, including calculated and algorithmic formats.
  • Import questions from Microsoft Word (including embedded images), rich-text, QTI and tab/comma delimited formats.
  • Spell check an entire exam file (includes dictionaries for American English, Canadian English, British English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Finnish, and a comprehensive medical dictionary).
  • Embed graphics, audio, and video without writing or viewing the underlying HTML.
  • Print exams directly from Respondus, save files to MS Word or rich-text format, or export them for use on myCourses.
  • Access to over 1,000 publisher test banks in Respondus format.
