FAQs
The Online Course Evaluation (OCE) system is a fully web-based password-protected tool available to all RIT departments and colleges for anonymous submission of final course evaluations.

FAQs

Error: "the OCE cannot authenticate my username and password through RIT LDAP." What should I do?

First make sure you are using your RIT Computer Account username and password. If you can still not log in, check your RIT Computer Account on another RIT system, for example RIT Web Mail (http://mymail.rit.edu) or myCourses (http://myCourses.rit.edu). If you can not log into those systems you must change your password at http://start.rit.edu. If you can log into the other RIT systems or still can not log into OCE with your new password please contact Online Learning for further assistance.

Error: "I am not registered for the quarter." Or "Your username is not in the RIT Online Learning Database." What should I do?

This may mean that RIT has duplicate Student Identification numbers on file for you. Online Learning technical support can verify this and make sure that the OCE associates the right ID with your courses that are set up in the OCE system. However, in the meantime, it is very important for you to notify the ITS helpdesk of any duplicate IDs associated with your name and RIT Computer Account so that the same error does not occur in the future. After Online support verifies this, you should contact ITS at 585.475.HELP(4357) or via email at helpdesk@rit.edu.

How are my evaluations linking to my RIT Computer Account?

Your course and username information is verified through the Registrar's system. This connects each student with the courses they are enrolled in. However, the login and student responses are not viewable by any Department Administrators or Faculty member ever. It is used to first verify you are in the course and that you can only take the evaluation one time.

Will my instructor know how I personally responded to the evaluation questions?

No. Your name or username and corresponding answers will never been seen by any faculty member or department administrator. Faculty will be able to log in to the OCE to view a course roster of students who have completed the evaluation in situations where they choose to issue credit to students who have taken the evaluation. But, they can not view results until the evaluation period is over and results have been published. Even then, they can only see the results. They can not see the names of students on the evaluation reports.

When will my instructor have access to the evaluation results?

The instructors usually are given access to the results of their course evaluations by the department after final grades are posted for the quarter.

What if I do not want to take my evaluation until after my final grade has been posted?

In many cases, the departments will extend the evaluation period for those students who are more comfortable taking the evaluation after their grade has been received. However, this varies from department to department and you can work through Online Learning to see if this is an option for you, but you must contact them early with this type of request.

What happens if the results after they are collected through the OCE?

Specific answers to this question can only be found at your specific department, since each of the departments may use the system differently. Usually the Department Chairs and Faculty go into view the reports for the quarter and cumulatively. For further details contact the academic department of your course.
